Here is my first attempt at using sIFR for headline typography. (See sidebar) To view it as intended, your browser should be enabled for Java and have Flash installed. If these are not present, you will see default browser fonts only.

Of course the thing looks like a dog's breakfast with all those different typefaces on display, but that's scarcely the point - it's the fact that they can be displayed at all that's remarkable.

I think that sIFR (or some evolution of it) is the future of web publishing. It's the first chance for a writer to have his work appear, at least in some degree the way he/she intended.

Geocaching...

How to describe it?  It's certainly a hobby - we collect things but we don't get to keep them. It's an outdoor activity, but we don't get to decide where we go. It's a competition, but nobody wins. Geocaching is sort of like a treasure hunt - but it's not quite that, either.
